FluentRabbit is a Mandarin language learning app focused on speaking and listening. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is processed, and what rights you have. We have written this to be clear and specific rather than to hide behind vague legal language.

We collect very little data, and most of it never leaves your device. Here is a complete breakdown:
The following data is stored on your device using local storage (AsyncStorage). It is never sent to our servers or any third party:
Optional account creation. You can optionally create an account using Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, or email. If you sign in, we store your authentication credentials securely via Supabase (our authentication provider). You can also use FluentRabbit without an account — in that case, all your data lives solely on your device and is permanently deleted if you uninstall the app.
When you use voice features (speaking Mandarin during lessons), your audio is sent to our backend API proxy, which forwards it to third-party services for processing. Here is exactly what happens:

Your voice recordings are never stored on our servers. Audio is streamed to third-party services for real-time processing and discarded. We retain only the evaluation result (e.g. "pronunciation score: 85%") for the duration of your lesson session. This result is stored locally on your device as part of your lesson progress.
If you subscribe to FluentRabbit, your payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment details, credit card number, or billing address. We receive from Apple, via RevenueCat (our subscription management provider), only:

We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how the app is used and to improve the learning experience. PostHog collects:
PostHog does not receive your voice recordings, transcriptions, lesson content, or any personally identifiable information beyond what is listed above. Analytics are disabled in development builds. You can review PostHog's privacy policy for details.
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), we process your data on the following legal bases:

These services are based in the United States. Data transferred to the US is protected under standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards as required by UK GDPR. We have assessed that the processing is necessary for the provision of the service and that adequate protections are in place.

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. FluentRabbit is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us at fluentrabbit@gmail.com and we will take steps to delete such information.
Users between the ages of 13 and 17 may use FluentRabbit with the consent of a parent or guardian.
We take reasonable measures to protect data during transmission and processing:
